Job summary

State of Nebraska is hiring Winter Temporary Highway Maintenance Workers for Lincoln and surrounding areas including Auburn, Beatrice, David City, Dorchester, Fairbury, Falls City, Greenwood, Seward, Tecumseh and Wahoo. Pay starts at $20.390/hour; CDL holders start at $21.953/hour for winter operations and snow removal.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Senior: Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements required within 60 days of employment.
• Preferred: valid Class A or B CDL; experience operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Help with Winter Operations.
• Perform snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Move, load, unload equipment and materials safely.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
