Job summary

The State of Nebraska's Transportation - Agency 27 is hiring winter temporary Highway Maintenance Workers across Albion, Humphrey, Norfolk and surrounding areas. These are winter positions with variable hours, ending March 31, 2027, offering a pathways for long-term opportunities.

Responsibilities include snow removal, heavy equipment operation, and roadside maintenance. CDL eligibility exists; a Class A/B license may be required within 60 days. Training and safety protocols apply.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Senior: Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes and tanker endorsements required within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Move, drag, lift, load, and unload equipment, materials, or hazardous items from roadways within weight restrictions.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
