Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation in District II (Silver Springs, Fernley, Lovelock, Nixon) seeks Highway Maintenance Worker 2 for the winter season to keep road surfaces, shoulders and drainage in good repair. On-site work includes snowplow operation and anti-icing; duties involve routine maintenance and emergency support.

One year of highway maintenance experience (or equivalent Nevada state service) is required, with opportunities to advance after certification. On-site only.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• OR one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a range of highway maintenance equipment.
• Install traffic markings and signs; maintain sign panels and fixtures.
• Respond to emergencies and manage traffic controls in maintenance zones.
• Snow removal and anti-icing using appropriate equipment and materials.
• Help maintain drainage, shoulders, culverts, and right-of-way areas.
