Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting for Winter Season Highway Maintenance Worker II positions in District II including Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Orovada, and Quinn River. These on-site roles involve winter and summer maintenance, snowplow operation, anti-icing, and emergency response as part of a statewide staffing effort.

Incumbents will operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment, assist in traffic control, and perform related duties as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance.
• Operate and maintain a variety of light, medium and heavy equipment listed in the job duties.
• Act as designated certified operator for HW I and II certification and training.
• Install pavement markings and signage per standards.
• Knowledge of winter operations including snow/anti-icing and brine handling.
• Familiarity with Maintenance Management System and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and perform preventive maintenance on highway maintenance and construction equipment.
• Maintain road surfaces, shoulders, ditches, and drainage to prevent erosion.
• Respond to emergencies and implement traffic controls in work zones.
• Apply seal coats, perform milling and inlays, and manage pavement markings.
• Load and apply anti-icing materials and manage snow removal operations.
• Monitor and document work, and ensure contract compliance and quality control.
