Job summary

State of Nevada through the Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting for Winter Season Highway Maintenance Worker 2 positions across District II in Carson City, Gardnerville, and Spooner. Duties include winter maintenance, snowplow operation, and emergency response in various weather conditions.

Applicants should have one year of basic highway maintenance experience or experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada state service; a valid license is required with CDL within 6

Qualifications

One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
Or one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.
Valid driver's license required; CDL within 6 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

Operate and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on highway maintenance equipment.
Establish traffic controls to reroute traffic in maintenance zones.
Mix salt and sand; apply anti-icing chemicals and remove snow with snow plows and loaders.
Monitor ITS data and incident command protocols; respond to emergencies.
Install, repair, and replace roadway signs and signposts; maintain lighting and panels.
