Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting Highway Maintenance Worker 2 positions in District II (Reno, Mt Rose, and Reno) for the Winter Season. Work includes snowplow operation, anti-icing, and routine highway maintenance, with duties extending to summer improvements and emergency response. Positions are for up to six months and on-site only.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have manual dexterity to operate a wide range of heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work; OR one year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.
• Operate and perform preventive maintenance on a variety of highway maintenance equipment.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather and during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a range of highway maintenance and construction equipment.
• Perform winter maintenance including snowplow operation and anti-icing activities.
• Establish traffic controls in work zones and reroute traffic as needed.
• Respond to accidents and emergencies and complete required documentation.
• Assist in summer improvement projects and routine roadside maintenance.
