Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting Highway Maintenance Worker 2 positions for the Winter Season across District II including Hawthorne, Fallon, Wellington and Yerington. Duties include snowplow operation, anti-icing, and routine highway maintenance to keep surfaces and shoulders in good repair.

All applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and be prepared for on-site work with potential inclement weather; CDL requirements apply within six months of appointment.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service.
• A valid driver’s license may be required and the ability to obtain a Nevada CDL within six months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform preventive maintenance and minor repair on a variety of light, medium and heavy-duty highway maintenance equipment.
• Establish traffic controls and reroute traffic in maintenance zones.
• Load and apply materials for road surface repairs and anti-icing operations.
