Job summary

The State of Indiana, through INDOT, seeks a Winter Seasonal Maintenance Worker in Vincennes Sub District. A CDL is required. The role handles snow and ice removal, traffic signs and pavement markings, and related winter duties to keep INDOT assets in good condition.

Location includes Vincennes, Oakland City, and Loogootee. Interviews will be held Oct 6, 2026; sign-on bonuses apply for early start dates. The pay rate is $21.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or HSE preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A or Class B CDL.
• Required to submit to and pass a drug test.
• Must be able to move 50 pounds.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods.
• Must have the ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Must be able to operate specialty traffic equipment (e.g. bucket trucks, paint equipment).
• Must follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Must work unpredictable and non-traditional hours as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain highways and right-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Perform emergency response activities such as cleanup, traffic control, and signs placement.
