Job summary

The State of Indiana's INDOT Fort Wayne Subdistrict is seeking Seasonal Winter Maintenance Workers to perform snow and ice removal and general highway maintenance. CDL required; drivers licensed. Pay is $21.00 per hour, with a retention bonus for hires on/before 12/7/26.

This is a seasonal, 180-day position with no benefits, based in Fort Wayne. Work includes operating snowplows and traffic signs, emergency responses, and routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A or Class B CDL.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to move 50 pounds and perform physical tasks outdoors in inclement weather.
• Must pass a drug test as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair, and clean highways and right-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Winter operation duties including snow and ice removal.
• Perform emergency response activities such as cleanup, traffic control, lane closures, placement of signs, and erecting barricades.
• Perform equipment maintenance such as minor repairs, refueling, and pre-trip inspections.
• Document work in the Work Management System (WMS).
