Job summary

State of Indiana, Paoli Sub District, is seeking a Winter Seasonal Maintenance Worker to perform snow and ice removal and related highway maintenance duties. A CDL is required; starting pay is $21.00 per hour with potential overtime during winter operations.

The role involves operating highway maintenance equipment, traffic control, and performing basic repairs. Interviews are scheduled, and a signing bonus may be offered for select start dates.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or high school equivalency preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Required to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Must have the ability to move 50 pounds.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods.
• Must endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Must operate specialty traffic equipment (e.g. bucket trucks, paint equipment).
• Must follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Must be able to work unpredictable and non-traditional hours as necessary to perform winter operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair, and clean highways and right-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Winter operation duties including snow and ice removal.
• Perform emergency response activities such as: clean-up, traffic control, lane closures, placement of signs, and erecting barricades.
• Perform equipment maintenance such as: minor repairs, preventative maintenance, refueling, and pre-trip inspections.
• Comply with INDOT Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Perform job documentation tasks such as entry into the Work Management System (WMS).
