Job summary

The State of Indiana, through the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Vincennes District, is hiring a winter seasonal worker to assist in facility and grounds upkeep, snow plowing, and related tasks. The role is based in Vincennes and pays $21 per hour.

The position is limited to 180 working days and does not include benefits. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and a valid CDL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or HSE preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Valid Class A or Class B CDL required.
• Drug test required prior to employment.
• Ability to move 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to work in inclement weather.
• Ability to operate traffic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair, and clean highways and rights-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Winter operation duties including snow and ice removal.
• Perform emergency response tasks such as traffic control and setting up signs.
• Perform equipment maintenance and pre-trip inspections.
• Follow INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Document job activities in the Work Management System (WMS).
