Job summary

The State of Ohio, District 11, is seeking Winter Seasonal CDL Driver/Highway Technician I to perform highway maintenance across Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson and Tuscarawas counties. This full-time seasonal role requires a valid CDL and includes hands-on traffic control, pothole repair, and snow operations.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages and fractions; ability to read, write and speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
• Applicant must have valid Commercial Driver’s License at the appropriate level pursuant to the position description to operate motorized equipment.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on maintenance of traffic and flagging
• Highway maintenance and repair work activities (e.g., pothole patching, spread berm, repair guardrails, crack seal, litter pick-up, drainage, vegetation management such as weed eating, brush cutting, and mowing)
• Operation of heavy equipment (e.g., dump truck, loader) and hand tools (e.g., chainsaw)
• Perform snow & ice operations
