Job summary

The State of Ohio, Ohio Department of Transportation, is seeking a Temporary Highway Technician 1 with CDL for the 2026-2027 winter season across multiple counties including Ashland. This full-time seasonal role may require second or third shift and involves outdoor highway maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include snow/ice operations, pothole patching, sign installation support, equipment loading, and traffic maintenance during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction.
• 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Snow and Ice Duties on the roadway (8–12 hours), fleet readiness inspections, and washing of snow and ice equipment.
• General facilities maintenance including pothole patching and roadway remediation.
• Assist with sign installation on 2, 4 and multi-lane routes.
• Operate articulated loader to load trucks for berming and snow/ice operations.
• Assist with maintenance of traffic during roadway emergencies.
• Highway beautification and litter removal when needed.
