Job summary

The Ohio Department of Transportation is seeking a Winter Seasonal Highway Technician 1 with CDL for Ashland and surrounding counties. This seasonal position involves snow and ice duties, fleet inspections, and various maintenance tasks within District 03, with a 1000-hour potential and possible second or third shift.

Applicants must have a valid Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction, and be prepared for background checks and drug testing as part of the onboarding

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic including addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages and fractions; ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Snow and Ice Duties on the roadway 8-12 hours, fleet readiness inspections (pre/post) and washing of the Snow and Ice Equipment, greasing equipment used for snow and ice, blade changing.
• General facilities maintenance
• Pothole patching and roadway remediation crew duties
• Assist with sign installation along 2, 4 and multi lane routes
• Articulated loader operation to load single and tandem axel dump trucks for berming and/or snow and ice operations
• Assist with the maintenance of traffic for roadway emergencies
• Highway beautification and litter removal when needed
