Job summary

The State of Ohio, District Ten, is accepting applications for Winter Seasonal CDL Highway Technician 1 across multiple counties in Ohio. The role focuses on hands-on highway maintenance, flagging, snow and ice operations, and equipment operation, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Eligible candidates must have a valid CDL, be willing to work outdoors in various counties including Washington and Athens, and join a union workforce (OCSEA).

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages and fractions; ability to read, write and speak common English vocabulary.
• 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
• Applicant must have valid Commercial Driver’s License at the appropriate level to operate motorized equipment.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on maintenance of traffic and flagging.
• Highway maintenance and repair work activities (pothole patching, berm, guardrails, crack seal, litter pick-up, drainage, vegetation management).
• Operation of heavy equipment (dump truck, loader) and hand tools (chainsaw).
• Perform snow and ice operations.
