Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation in Ohio is seeking a Highway Technician 1 with CDL for the 2026-2027 winter season to perform snow and ice removal, road maintenance, and related duties across District 12 (Cuyahoga County).

The position requires safe outdoor work, a valid CDL, and ability to read/write basic English; prior equipment operation is a plus. Part-time, varied hours, location Riveredge Yard and neighboring sites.

Qualifications

• Must be safety-driven and physically capable.
• Ability to read, write and speak common English.
• 3 months training or experience operating basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Snow and ice duties on the roadway; fleet readiness inspections; washing of equipment; greasing; blade changes.
• General facilities maintenance.
• Pothole patching and roadway remediation duties.
• Assist with sign installation on 2-, 4-, and multi-lane routes.
• Operate articulated loader to load trucks for snow/ice ops.
• Maintain traffic during roadway emergencies.
• Highway beautification and litter removal when needed.
