Job summary

Somm Cellars in Menlo Park, CA is seeking a part-time Tasting Room & Retail Associate to join our team. The role fuses wine, hospitality, retail, and operations, welcoming guests, guiding them through the wines by the glass, and hosting curated flights.

You will help customers find bottles, fulfill online orders, and maintain accurate inventory across both the retail store and cellar. No prior wine experience required; curiosity and energy are valued, with opportunities to learn across producers

Qualifications

• Must be 21 or older due to wine service.
• Genuine interest in wine and willingness to learn.
• Friendly, engaging, and comfortable interacting with guests.
• Able to work Saturdays; some holidays may be needed.
• Physically able to lift 40 pounds.
• Basic experience with Microsoft Office is a plus; personal laptop required.

Responsibilities

• Open the store in the morning and set up the tasting room.
• Host the daytime tasting-room experience: pour wines by the glass and curated flights, guide guests through selections.
• Learn a constantly evolving tasting menu and contextualize wines.
• Assist customers on the retail floor, complete transactions, and respond to inquiries.
• Fulfill online orders and maintain inventory across store and cellar.
• Keep the store and cellar organized, stocked, and clean.
• Support wine seminars, tastings, events, and other programming.
• Close and reset the store and tasting room at end of day.
