Job summary

EDP Renewables is seeking an entry-level Wind Technician I for on-site operation, maintenance, and repair at a wind-energy generation site. Duties include safe LOTO and documentation, equipment inspections, and adherence to environmental and safety guidelines.

Ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, 1–2 years in wind or related industry, and familiarity with MS Office and diagnostic tools. Travel up to 10% may be required; valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or technical school education preferred.
• Strong mechanical background with gearing-related experience preferred.
• 1–2 years wind energy or related industry experience recommended.
• Understanding of Microsoft products and related software.
• Experience with power plant operations and turbine maintenance, incl. high voltage switching.
• Familiarity with maintenance and diagnostic equipment and heavy equipment.
• Willingness to pass background and drug tests; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wind turbines and plant equipment including substation and tower gear.
• Identify process improvements and communicate via proper channels or implement controls.
• Assess safety risks and implement mitigation measures; follow EDPR safety policies.
• Collaborate with team, demonstrate integrity, and support continuous training.
• Record all work using service reporting procedures and comply with internal controls.
