Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Wind Farm Technician I to ensure safe execution of maintenance at one or more wind farms and related facilities. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair renewable energy systems while upholding EHS standards and documenting activities.

The role involves leading installations, major repairs, and retrofits, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating across departments to improve performance. On-call work and travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or equivalent certification in renewable energy technology or electrical systems preferred
• Unrestricted driver’s license
• Must live within 1 hour drive time to site
• Minimum 5 years of technical experience in renewable energy preferred
• Advanced certifications preferred
• 5 years of experience in power generation/maintenance with 3+ years in wind turbines
• 2- or 4-year technical degree required
• Military technical experience advantageous
• Licenses/certifications substitutions include Journeyman/Master Electrician/Wind Tech Certificate
• Knowledge of environmental and safety policies andLOTO/JHA procedures
• Proactive safety behavior and safety advocacy
• Proficient with hand/power tools and electromechanical systems
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical/hydraulic drawings and schematics
• Independent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
• Knowledge of network protocols (preferred)
• Strong MS Office skills and ability to present technically
• Strong project management and ability to work under deadlines
• Self-driven with strong problem-solving
• Excellent communication and teamwork
• Ability to lead crane rigging/signaling and manage documentation
• Lead small teams and mentor junior staff, cross-department collaboration
• Apply expertise to renewables and safety protocols
• Contribute to project planning and grid/storage related challenges

Responsibilities

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with site policies and EHS requirements
• Demonstrate proactive safety behaviors and report hazards
• Lead installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of renewable energy systems and BoP procedures
• Conduct acceptance and performance tests and detailed reporting
• Lead retrofit installations and complex repairs
• Perform root cause analysis and improve system efficiency
• Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives
• Train and supervise junior team members
• Provide backup to other sites as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate findings
• On-call availability and rapid response to dispatch
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
