Job summary

Nordex Group seeks a Wind and Site Engineer to support the North American sales team by evaluating wind resources, recommending turbine models, and preparing site assessment reports for prospective wind energy projects.

You will develop wind flow models, analyze AEP, and optimize layouts to improve bid competitiveness while reducing costs. Travel up to 10% is expected, with strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, or related field. Master’s preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years in wind energy, preferably wind resource assessment or energy yield analysis.
• Strong knowledge of boundary layer meteorology and wind turbine loads.
• Proficiency with wind resource analysis tools such as WindPRO, WAsP, OpenWind, QGIS.
• Experience with wind farm layout optimization and meteorological data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on meteorological conditions and turbine suitability for wind projects.
• Perform wind resource assessments using WindPRO, WAsP, and similar tools.
• Process and analyze met data from towers, SoDARs, LiDARs, including data cleaning and turbulence assessments.
• Develop wind flow models and AEP analyses, including losses and uncertainties.
• Evaluate extreme wind conditions and fatigue loading impacts on turbine performance.
• Develop and recommend curtailment strategies for turbulence mitigation.
• Prepare Site Assessment Reports to support sales and service activities.
• Collaborate with Sales Managers to optimize layouts and maximize AEP.
• Support customer needs through project analyses, site visits, and GIS analyses.
• Work across multiple projects with strict deadlines and high-quality deliverables.
