Job summary

UMOS - United Migrant Opportunity Services invites applications for an Intake Specialist in Milwaukee, WI. The role handles WHEAP intake by phone, in person, or by mail to determine eligibility and processes applications in the WHEAP system.

The position requires an associate degree or 2 years in social services with strong communication skills, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, and ability to work flexible hours including evenings. On-site work with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years in social services or related field.
• Two years' case management or equivalent social services experience.
• Ability to work independently within policies and guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexible hours including on-call evenings; travel within Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Provide intake services for WHEAP by phone, in person, or by mail to determine eligibility.
• Enter applications into the WHEAP data system timely and accurately.
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, provide program information.
• Respond quickly to client requests, meeting required response times.
• Coordinate administrative activities and relay information to staff and clients.
• Communicate with vendors about repairs and emergency fuel fills.
• Verify earned and unearned income; conduct outreach and mobile intake.
• Maintain confidentiality of client information and perform home visits as needed.
