Job summary

New York Life is seeking a Vice President, Head of New Frontier Technology (West Coast) to lead frontier AI initiatives and manage relationships with labs and hyperscalers. The role sits in the NYL AI CoE, delivering in-house AI solutions and governing AI lifecycle across production and governance processes.

The candidate will lead a team, own the lifecycle from hypothesis to production, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards across the Pacific time zone.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of technology experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership of AI, machine learning, or advanced engineering functions.
• Established senior relationships across frontier AI labs, hyperscale cloud and AI platform providers, and the West Coast talent market.
• Proven track record of building and leading teams that delivered AI solutions from concept to production at enterprise scale.
• Demonstrated ownership of an engineering lifecycle for AI/machine learning systems — evaluation, testing, release, monitoring.
• Experience integrating governance, risk, security, and compliance controls into a delivery platform or lifecycle.
• Executive credibility representing a Fortune 100 company to researchers, platform executives, and senior industry leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery end-to-end for in-house AI solutions — business case, architecture, build, deployment, adoption, and outcomes.
• Define business cases, KPIs, funding, and adoption plans for each solution.
• Ensure AI CoE capabilities and reusable assets strengthen shared platform standards.
• Maintain West Coast AI leadership coverage in Pacific time and align with Home Office AI leadership.
• Travel across time zones as required to support ND NYL leadership.
