Job summary

New York Life seeks a Head of AI Governance to architect and lead a technology-enabled governance function that enables safe, rapid AI adoption across the SDLC. The role blends governance, risk, and regulatory expertise with hands-on AI tech leadership.

The candidate will influence Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and IT leadership, driving governance standards, guardrails, and continuous oversight in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in technology risk, model risk, or AI governance with leadership responsibility.
• Experience building or modernizing a governance function, not just operating one.
• Fluency with AI tech: foundation models, agentic systems, evaluation and monitoring tools, AI security concerns.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and operation of AI governance agents across SDLC.
• Oversee AI model security, risk classification, and monitoring agents.
• Manage AI compliance, legal, auditing, and governance review processes.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Procurement at senior levels.
• Establish SLAs, escalation paths, and governance literacy across business and tech.
