Job summary

INS Engineering in Austin, Texas, seeks a motivated business development engineer to originate and grow accounts across the West Coast and Western U.S., including CAISO markets. You will build a sustainable regional pipeline, engage utilities, developers, EPCs, and large-load data center customers, and translate technical capabilities into commercial opportunities.

Remote work is available by project; travel about 25-50% may be required.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree or substantial hands-on electrical/power engineering experience.
• Ability to discuss technical engineering services credibly with utilities, EPCs, developers and stakeholders.
• Established relationships or strong knowledge in CAISO and Western U.S. utility and renewable developer ecosystems.
• A personable, approachable communicator with commercial curiosity and prospecting ability.
• Travel willingness: approximately 25-50%, including consecutive weeks when needed.
• Engineers with strong client-facing potential can develop BD skills with INS.

Responsibilities

• Originate new client relationships and grow existing accounts with utilities, developers, EPCs, independent power producers, large-load and data center customers.
• Develop a sustainable regional pipeline, support account expansion and deliver measurable revenue growth.
• Represent INS at in-person client visits, conferences and events; maintain CRM records and forecasts.
• Identify customer challenges and connect opportunities to INS capabilities in studies, interconnection, transmission/distribution, substations, protection and control, SCADA and commissioning.
