Job summary

Summit Area YMCA seeks an experienced Wellness Center Manager to oversee daily operations at the Summit and Berkeley Heights branches. You will lead staff, coach on safety, and ensure clean, welcoming workout areas while engaging with members on the wellness floor.

With a focus on service excellence, you will coordinate scheduling, maintenance, and programming, aligning with YMCA values. This full-time role requires strong leadership and hands-on floor presence.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years experience in a fitness/wellness center.
Experience supervising, scheduling, or training staff preferred.
Current CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

Manage daily Wellness Center operations at both Summit and Berkeley Heights branches.
Spend at least 50% of time on the wellness floor engaging members and supporting staff.
Train, schedule, and supervise wellness staff with clear expectations across locations.
Coach staff on member service, floor supervision, safe equipment use, and daily tasks.
Monitor equipment condition and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
Ensure workout areas are clean, welcoming and ready for members.
Support member orientations and wellness programming initiatives.
Address member concerns promptly and professionally; involve leadership when needed.
Collaborate with program directors and branch leadership to enhance member experience.
