Job summary

Big Top’s Weld Shop Supervisor steers the welding department’s safety, quality, and throughput, aligning resources and setting priorities to meet production goals. This role reports to the Plant General Manager and drives continuous improvement across the operation.

You will lead Welder I–III crews, coach performance, and ensure adherence to SOPs, quality standards, and ERP discipline while developing talent and building a scalable welding operation supporting current needs and growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years welding or fabrication experience
• Minimum 2 years leadership/supervisory experience
• AWS welding certification or equivalent (preferred)
• Experience using ERP/MRP and manufacturing data systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Own welding department performance for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and labor effectiveness.
• Lead Welder I‑III employees with clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.
• Plan daily department execution aligning labor, equipment, materials, priorities, and constraints.
• Verify work requirements against drawings, travelers, specs, and quality standards.
• Ensure PPE and safety practices are followed and inspections completed.
• Maintain weld quality through inspections, reviews, and corrective actions.
• Develop workforce capability via onboarding, training, and qualification tracking.
• Support talent management with HR on recruitment and performance reviews.
• Create and monitor KPIs linked to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
• Use ERP data to identify risks, allocate resources, and communicate performance.
