Job summary

Big Top is seeking a Weld Shop Lead to supervise and coach welders in a fast-paced shop environment. You will coordinate daily welding activities, ensure safety and quality standards, and report to the Production Manager. This role emphasizes teamwork, training, and continuous improvement across the welding department.

You will collaborate with management on staffing, prioritizing workloads, and resolving production issues while upholding company values and on-time delivery goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of welding or fabrication experience in a manufacturing, production, or fabrication environment required.
• Previous supervisory, lead, or equivalent shop leadership experience preferred.
• Experience providing day-to-day guidance, training, and support to production employees preferred.
• Experience assisting with employee onboarding, skills development, cross-training, or qualification tracking preferred.
• AWS welding certification, CWI/CWE exposure, or equivalent documented welding qualification experience preferred.
• Experience in a quality-driven manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Production Manager with supervision of all welding department employees and related onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Coordinate workflow, assign tasks, and provide day-to-day guidance to Welder I–III staff.
• Ensure safe, quality welding operations and maintain production records and reports.
• Support process improvements, training, and cross-training initiatives.
• Communicate production priorities, performance metrics, and personnel needs to management.
