Job summary

Vermeer Corporation is seeking a Welder I on the 2nd shift in Wisconsin. You will perform welds per blueprints, set up components, and operate welding equipment to produce high-quality machinery parts used worldwide.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Entry-level welding training or apprenticeship is preferred, with opportunities to complete Vermeer’s weld training and AWS GMAW-P certification.

Qualifications

• Entry-level welding experience or formal training preferred.
• Complete Weld Training Program with AWS GMAW-P to D14.0 in 1G-UL; qualify in FCAW for 3F/4F positions.
• Read blueprints and welding symbols; apply decimal-based measurements for precision and quality.
• Access digital drawings and work instructions via computer systems.
• Identify welding defects; participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain safety, quality, and productivity through 5S and organized work areas.

Responsibilities

• Complete weldments in various positions per blueprints and welding procedures.
• Prepare, position, align components; bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts.
• Operate oxyfuel cutting torch for preheating and perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols; apply precise measurements.
• Access digital drawings and work instructions via computer systems.
• Identify welding defects; support corrective actions and root-cause analysis.
• Support 5S and workplace organization to improve department performance.
