Job summary

Vermeer is seeking a Welder I for the 2nd shift in Freeman, SD. This full-time role involves hands-on welding to produce high-quality equipment that supports essential global work.

You will follow blueprints, use welding procedures, and work within a safety-focused culture focused on continuous improvement. Entry-level welding experience or formal training is preferred, with potential to complete Vermeer’s Weld Training Program and AWS GMAW-P certification.

Qualifications

• Entry-level welding experience or formal training (technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent).
• Ability to complete Vermeer Weld Training Program and AWS GMAW-P certification to D14.0 in flat position.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols with precision measurements.
• Access and interpret digital work instructions and drawings via computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete weldments in various positions per blueprints and welding specs.
• Prepare, align components using fixtures, bolt and tack welds for final welding.
• Operate oxyfuel cutting torch for preheating and perform routine maintenance.
• Read blueprints and interpret welding symbols to ensure quality.
• Access digital drawings and work instructions to support weld execution.
• Identify welding defects and participate in root cause analysis.
• Support 5S and workplace organization to improve efficiency.
