Job Summary

The Welder / Fabricator is responsible for all welding, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing of G&H Towing’s harbor tugs and facilities.

Job Responsibilities, Required Knowledge, Skills

1. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all times.
2. Familiarity with company documents, policies, procedures, and the Towing Management Systems (T.S.M.S).
3. Maintain confidentiality in all organizational matters.
4. Manage multiple demands simultaneously while maintaining service standards.
5. Operate machinery, including power, mechanical, and hand tools.
6. Understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
7. Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
8. Work independently with minimal guidance.
9. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental policies onboard tugs.
10. Assist in planning welding procedure qualifications and production tasks.
11. Complete duties assigned by the Director of Engineering, Engineering Support Manager, or Welder Foreman.
12. Conduct daily Toolbox meetings.
13. Maintain clean, organized, and well-maintained work areas.
14. Ensure tools and supplies are available and tools are in safe working condition.
15. Perform welding in accordance with approved procedures.
16. Run welding leads and gas hoses safely and congestion-free.
17. Install tug and facility equipment.
18. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
19. Exhibit interpersonal skills, including self-awareness and professional judgment.
20. Knowledge of DP vessel operations.
21. Support company mission, vision, and goals as a team player.
22. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
23. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
24. Troubleshoot, test, resolve, and escalate issues as needed.
25. Apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
26. Write Job Safety Analyses (GARs).

Education & Experience

1. High school diploma or GED required; advanced degrees or extensive experience considered.
2. Minimum of five years' experience in welding, HVAC, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, or piping systems.
3. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
4. Proficiency with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet.

Required Licensure & Certifications

Valid driver's license required.

Working Conditions

Work hours vary based on business needs, including weekends, holidays, and after-hours. Travel may be required. Work performed in office and field environments.

Special Projects

Assist management with special projects and complete assignments within established timeframes. Perform other duties as assigned.
