JOB SUMMARY

Teichman Group, LLC, an industry leader in marine services and emergency response, develops and builds much of our own equipment. As a welder/fabricator in our metal fabrication shop, you will be responsible for designing, cutting, and shaping aluminum, carbon, and stainless steel.

Fabrication of shipping containers, firefighting pumps, dredges, vessels, heavy lift cranes, and barges are just a few examples of the projects involved.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience; Welding Certification or vocational degree required.
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to meet all physical qualifications per company guidelines.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to obtain one.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
• Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with Mig, Tig, flux-core, and stick welding.
• Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications.
• Ability to operate various tools and heavy machinery, including forklifts.
• Must complete confined space entry (CSE) and 40-hour OSHA training.
• Knowledge of industry safety practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Verify workpiece conformance to specifications using measuring tools.
• Align and fit parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, and other tools.
• Move parts manually or with hoists/cranes into position.
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts following blueprints and specifications.
• Operate welding, grinding, and cutting equipment.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, and flame cutters.
• Construct patterns, templates, or work aids.
• Perform finishing work like hammering, chipping, and grinding.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SHIFT INFORMATION

Standard work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 3:45 pm, with a 45-minute lunch break. Extended hours and occasional travel may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Employees may need to lift/move up to 50 pounds independently or more with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception. PPE must be worn as prescribed.

The work environment is a non-climate-controlled shop with outdoor exposure, involving mechanical parts, heights, fumes, weather, and noise. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
