Job summary

BAE Systems in Aiken, South Carolina seeks a Weld Engineering Technologist I to support 2nd shift Weld Operations. You will audit for compliance, drive process improvements, and provide essential production engineering support to CMS. Opportunity to grow in a hands-on welding role with strong safety focus.

The position requires welding education and experience, proficiency in common welding processes, and a team-oriented mindset. On-site role with modest travel and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or welding certification with required experience as stated.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift: Mon–Thu 3:15 PM–1:45 AM.
• Hands-on welding process experience (GMAW, GMAW-Pulse, GTAW, SMAW).
• Proficient in MS Office for daily tasks.
• Strong safety mindset and training materials maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Apply welding knowledge to practical processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Perform regular compliance audits and ensure standards are met.
• Research and apply new technologies to improve quality and efficiency.
• Manage and optimize weld equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
• Provide production engineering support to address technical challenges.
• Oversee maintenance of materials and facilities for weld schooling and certification tests.
• Assist in testing and qualification activities and maintain records.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to quality and cost metrics.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe workplace environment.
