Job summary

BAE Systems, Inc. seeks an experienced welder to set up and operate a wide range of fabrication and welding equipment. The candidate will execute complex setups, hold tight tolerances, and ensure welds meet specifications across various materials.

In-house tests for GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and SAW will be required. The role includes assuring safety, maintaining housekeeping, and mentoring other weld personnel while adhering to established Weld Procedure Specifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of welding experience.
• Ability to read specifications.
• Must set up and operate a wide range of fabrication and welding equipment to include band saw, cut off saw, rollers, press, pipe, plasma, weld, and power tools.
• Must make complex setups and hold close tolerances in fabrication and weld manufacturing across various materials.
• Pass weld tests (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, SAW) and meet workmanship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to other weld personnel on weld sequencing and set‑up.
• Follow Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) including amperage, voltage, travel speed, and filler material.
• Develop alternate methods and procedures with Manufacturing Engineering to improve efficiency.
• Assist with ancillary tasks (painting, blasting, assembly) in closed areas as required.
• Maintain and improve housekeeping in the work area and follow safety practices.
