Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing, a leading Tier 1 supplier and employee-owned automotive parts producer in Spartanburg, SC, seeks a Welding Engineer for the 2nd shift (1:30 PM - 9:30 PM, Mon-Fri). You will develop welding techniques and processes, test new fabrication methods, and standardize joining processes like GMAW, RSW, and DAW across materials.

You will also drive continuous improvement, support new line launches, and work with vendors and customers to ensure weld quality and process reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or equivalent.
• 1–3 years in a welding manufacturing environment; automotive experience preferred.
• Experience with RSW, GMAW and DAW on various steels.
• Robotic welding experience with ABB and Fanuc preferred.
• Destructive testing setup and training experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain welding processes to Challenge Manufacturing standards.
• Lead cost-reduction via safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
• Develop and maintain weld parameter/setup sheets.
• Support new line launches and line verification projects.
• Collaborate with maintenance to improve weld quality.
• Develop welding schedules for GMAW, RSW, DAW on ferrous/nonferrous grades.
