Job summary

The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) is seeking a part-time, weekends-only Visitor Services Associate to join our Visitor Services team in Washington, DC. This in-person role focuses on assisting visitors with ticket orders, answering questions at the welcome desk, and sharing information about NMWA and its exhibitions and events.

Shifts are primarily Saturdays and Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential for additional shifts on weekdays, some evenings, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Cash handling and point-of-sale experience.
  • Approachable, friendly demeanor with a commitment to customer service.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and a team player who can solve problems.
  • Comfortable using technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented.
  • Experience with Tessitura or similar ticketing software is a plus.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Engage visitors and communicate information on exhibitions, wayfinding, accessibility, and etiquette.
  • Sell and redeem tickets for museum and programs.
  • Assist with memberships and on-site member services.
  • Support crowd control during events and busy periods with other departments.
  • Provide information about exhibitions and events to guests and answer questions.
