Job summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) at IGHL Inc in New York provides hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living for developmentally disabled individuals within our residential program. The DSP supports daily living tasks, teaching skills, and helps ensure safety and well-being in the home and community.

This role requires AMAP/SCIP/CPR certifications, a valid NYS driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and flexibility to cover shifts including holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license is required.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certifications must be completed and kept current.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform ADL tasks with supervision.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including holidays.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication per certification and policy.
• Assist, supervise and guide residents with self-care routines.
• Maintain logs for nursing, medication and incident reports.
• Provide transportation and supervise community activities when needed.
• Support nutrition planning, menu suggestions and shopping guidance.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training.
