Job summary

IGHL Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional to model respectful care for individuals with developmental disabilities in a Residential setting.

The role involves hands-on ADL assistance, medication administration, and collaborative teamwork with a focus on safety and renewal of required certifications. You will participate in daily living activities, transportation, nutrition planning, and community engagement, while documenting progress and maintaining compliance with IGHL and OPWDD

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license required.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certifications must be completed and maintained.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and assist with ADLs.
• Willingness to work regular days, including holidays.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Uses proactive approaches to support choice making and redirects as needed.
• Guides and supervises self-care routines: toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing.
• Implements program goal plans and documents records including billing.
• Implements physical therapy interventions as written.
• Performs housekeeping tasks and supervises consumer housekeeping duties.
• Participates in recreation and community activities and coordinates leisure.
• Maintains driver authorization and provides transportation when needed.
• Teaches nutrition basics: menu planning, diet, shopping; supervises when necessary.
• Maintains logs for nursing, medication, behavior and first aid.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; keeps certifications current.
• Assists as needed at other IGHL locations.
