Job summary

IGH L Inc is seeking a Direct Support Professional to model respectful care and assist individuals with developmental disabilities in daily activities, transportation, and community participation. The DSP provides hands-on assistance with ADLs, supports routines, and collaborates with a team to implement individualized programs.

Responsibilities include medication administration, documenting logs, safety compliance, and ongoing certifications such as SCIP/CPR.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license.
• Complete and maintain SCIP and Adult CPR certifications.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. at least five times per hour.
• Able to sit, stand or bend throughout the day.
• Enthusiastic team player under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication, as per certification.
• Encourages choice making and uses redirection techniques.
• Supervises self-care routines and provides hands-on assistance.
• Implements program goal plans for self-care, communication, and independent living.
• Implements physical therapy interventions as written.
• Supervises housekeeping and completes related duties.
• Supports recreation activities and community outings.
• Maintains driver authorization and transports to activities.
• Taught nutrition aspects and supervises meals and shopping.
• Maintains documentation in all logs and incident reports.
• Follows IGHL/OPWDD policies and completes forms.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Participates in specialty trainings such as CPR.
• May cover at other locations as needed.
• Completes SCIP, AMAP and defensive driving certifications within 6 months.
