Job summary

IGH L Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional to be a role model for developmentally disabled individuals. The DSP will provide hands-on ADL support, administer medications as certified, and promote independence while respecting individual needs.

You will implement program goals, document activities, and supervise residents in daily routines, housing chores, and community outings, with appropriate safety and compliance training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certification required per IGHL policy.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to sit, stand or bend throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication as per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Encourages choice making and uses redirection techniques per SCIP certification.
• Provides hands-on assistance for ADL including toileting, bathing, dressing and grooming.
• Implements program goal plans for self-care, communication and independent living.
• Records documentation and billing as required by the program.
• Provides supervision during housekeeping and laundry tasks as needed.
• Supervises and supports residents during recreation and community activities.
• Maintains DRIVER AUTHORIZATION and provides transportation to medical appointments.
• Teaches nutrition concepts and supervises shopping and meal preparation.
• Completes required trainings and certifications within policy timelines.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
