Job summary

IGHL Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professional to model respectful interactions and assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily living activities. The role emphasizes ADL support and teaching through structured routines, with emphasis on safety and documentation.

The DSP will provide hands-on assistance for activities of daily living, supervise transport, and participate in community outings while maintaining logs and complying with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS driver’s license required.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certifications must be completed and maintained per IGHL policy.
• Complete and maintain AMAP certification and defensive driving trainings within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Encourages client choice and uses redirection techniques per SCIP certification.
• Assists with self-care routines and provides physical support as needed.
• Implements program goals for self-care, communication, mobility, and independence.
• Performs housekeeping tasks and supervises client daily living activities.
• Provides transportation and supervision during community activities and medical appointments.
• Keeps accurate logs for nursing, medication, and incident reports.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; maintains certifications up to date.
