Job summary

IGHL is seeking a Direct Support Professional in New York to serve as a role model for individuals with developmental disabilities. You will provide hands-on assistance with ADLs, document care, and support ongoing program goals in a respectful, team-based environment.

You will work under non-exempt status, with CPR/AMAP certifications required within 6 months and a focus on safety, mobility, and independent living skills for our consumers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license is preferred.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certifications are required within 6 months of hire.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs multiple times per hour.
• Ability to sit, stand or bend throughout the day.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication following certifications and policies.
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and provide physical support as needed.
• Teach and supervise self-care routines (toileting, hygiene, dressing).
• Document care, logs, and billing as required by programs.
• Support household chores and supervision during recreation.
• Provide transportation and supervision for community activities.
