Job summary

IGHL Inc. in New York seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. The DSP will provide hands-on ADL support and promote independence with care and respect.

Responsibilities include medication administration per AMAP, supervision during self-care, documentation, and transportation as needed. A NYS driver’s license and ability to lift 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Valid NYS Driver’s license
• Complete and maintain SCIP and Adult CPR certification, as per IGHL policy
• Work regularly scheduled days, including those that fall on holidays
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at least five times per hour
• Able to sit, stand or bend throughout the day
• Enthusiastic team player that handles stressful situations professionally with ease

Responsibilities

• Administers medication, as per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Uses a pro-active approach to offer and actively encourage choice making.
• Guides, teaches and supervises, and provides physical assistance with self-care routines.
• Implements program goal plans and records documentation.
• Implements physical therapy interventions as written.
• Assists with house cleaning tasks and daily chores.
• Participates in recreation and community activities; arranges leisure opportunities.
