Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. is seeking a Utility Technician to perform water and wastewater system maintenance at federal installations. You will inspect, repair, and test mains, meters, hydrants, and sewer lines, and operate heavy equipment under supervision.

The role requires safety compliance, ability to read technical documents, and strong communication with customers. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, with certification prospects in state programs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety practices for general construction and handling of materials used in water and wastewater operations.
• Familiar with field activities and water/wastewater systems.
• Proficient with heavy machinery operation including dump trucks, backhoes, and sewer devices.
• Strong English reading, writing, and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on water and wastewater systems, including quality and supply functions.
• Inspect, repair, replace, and certify water mains, meters, hydrants, and related assets.
• Inspect and service sewer lines, lift stations, and perform sewer inspections with video equipment.
• Read and interpret technical documents, manuals, maps, and diagrams.
• Operate heavy machinery and complete work orders accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
