Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled utility technician to maintain water and wastewater systems on military installations. The role involves inspecting mains, meters, hydrants, and sewer assets, operating heavy machinery, and providing professional customer service.

You will read blueprints and maps, respond to outages, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards while coordinating with field teams and supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5 years in water/wastewater as Utility Worker II or related role.
• Valid driver’s license and commercial driver’s license as required.
• Must hold current state water/wastewater operator certification where employed.
• Must complete OSHA/USACE safety training annually.

Responsibilities

• Perform water and wastewater system maintenance under minimal supervision.
• Inspect and service water mains, meters, hydrants, and backflow devices.
• Inspect sewer lines, lift stations, and test video equipment.
• Respond to service orders and mark water infrastructure.
• Communicate with customers professionally and notify outages.
• Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks and backhoes.
