Job summary

The City of Akron is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to operate and repair wastewater and water utility equipment across multiple sites. You will perform routine and complex tasks on pumps, valves, meters, SCADA controls, and related machinery.

You will also maintain buildings and perform light repairs as needed. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of paid maintenance experience in relevant utilities, plus a valid Ohio driver's license.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED and a minimum of three years of paid experience in the maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plant, sewer collection, drinking water treatment, or water distribution equipment, or an equivalent combination of paid experience and training.
• Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance and repair work on sewer or water utilities equipment and related systems.
• Maintain, repair, and adjust mechanical equipment including pumps, blowers, screens, strainers, mixers, piping, and SCADA controls.
• Enter work orders into a computerized maintenance management system and drive to various locations to service equipment.
• Assist in building and systems maintenance including roofing, plumbing, and painting as required.
