Job summary

Langan is seeking a Project Engineer/Manager - Water and Wastewater to support its growing national water practice. This role focuses on water strategy, due diligence, source water assessments, and discharge strategy development for clients across the United States.

The position involves coordinating with utilities, municipalities, and regulators, managing projects from conception through operations, and providing technical guidance on water and wastewater treatment and reuse applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
• Master's degree preferred for advanced roles.
• 6+ years of experience in the environmental field, with at least 2 years in a consulting project-management environment.
• Professional certification (e.g., PE, CHMM) or on track to obtain.
• Working knowledge of water/wastewater treatment technologies and environmental regulations.
• Strong ability to manage multiple clients, projects and staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support water due diligence and source water assessments for data center developments.
• Develop and implement water sourcing strategies across diverse regulatory environments.
• Evaluate wastewater discharge strategies including NPDES permitting and water reuse.
• Coordinate with engineering teams on water and wastewater infrastructure planning.
• Provide regulatory guidance on water treatment and reuse applications.
• Collaborate with utilities, municipalities and regulators to navigate permitting challenges.
• Support water strategy development through project lifecycle from due diligence to operations.
• Provide regulatory oversight for Safe Drinking Water Act compliance programs.
