Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services seeks a Project Engineer/Manager - Water and Wastewater to support its national water practice. The role advances water strategy initiatives, due diligence, and permitting for industrial clients across the United States.

Responsibilities include water sourcing, wastewater strategy, and regulatory guidance across diverse regulatory environments. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and oversee project delivery and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
• 6+ years of experience in environmental field with at least 2 years as a project manager in a consulting environment.
• Professional certification or on track to obtain (e.g.: PE, CHMM).
• Working knowledge of water/wastewater treatment technologies and regulatory obligations.
• Ability to manage multiple clients, projects and staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support water due diligence for data center developments, including source water availability assessments and regulatory analyses.
• Develop water sourcing strategies using municipal supplies, groundwater, surface water, reclaimed water, and alternative water resources.
• Evaluate wastewater discharge strategies, including NPDES permitting, indirect discharge, land application, and water reuse.
• Coordinate with engineering teams on water and wastewater infrastructure planning and interface design.
• Provide regulatory guidance on water treatment, wastewater treatment, cooling water systems, and water reuse applications.
• Collaborate with utilities, municipalities, regulators, and clients to navigate permit challenges.
• Support water strategy development from site selection through permitting, construction, startup, and operations.
• Provide oversight for Safe Drinking Water Act compliance and NOV responses.
