Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. seeks a construction worker to support water and wastewater system projects on U.S. military installations. Under supervision, you will perform trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, and main testing.

Safety is emphasized; you will follow Federal, State, and company rules, maintain site cleanliness, and help manage equipment and materials. A high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two (2) years of prior water and wastewater system construction experience preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License issued by the state where employed.
• Must be a United States Citizen.
• Working knowledge of general hand tools and power tools preferred.
• Must take and pass Federal OSHA and/or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses as required by regulations.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, performs activities related to water and wastewater system utility construction.
• Observes and complies with all Federal, State and Company safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Performs physical construction including trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, compacting soil to grade specs, and main testing.
• Performs all work safely and efficiently, following standards of performance.
• Responsible for safe working conditions including trench safety and bracing.
• Responsible for constructing and maintaining erosion control devices as required.
• Loads, unloads, identifies and distributes utility materials per plans and specs.
• Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement of machinery and materials.
• May operate machinery for water and wastewater construction.
• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate hazards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
