Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. seeks a construction worker to support water and wastewater system projects at military installations. You will perform trenching, pipe laying, and utility tasks while following strict safety rules and site plans.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, OSHA training, and a valid driver's license. Applicants must be US citizens and may be required to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of water and wastewater system construction experience preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Must be a United States Citizen.
• Working knowledge of general hand tools and power tools preferred.
• Must take and pass Federal OSHA and/or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, performs activities related to water and wastewater system utility construction.
• Observes and complies with all Federal, State and Company safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Performs physical construction including excavating trenches, pipe laying, backfilling excavations, compaction, testing.
• Works in a safe, efficient manner following standards; work is repetitive.
• Maintains safe working conditions including trench safety and bracing.
• Constructs and maintains erosion control devices as directed.
• Loads, unloads, identifies and distributes utility materials per project plans.
• Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement of machinery and materials.
• May operate machinery as directed for construction.
• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate hazards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
