Job summary

Ashevillenc is hiring a full-time Water Maintenance Worker I for the Water Resources Department. The role involves unskilled to skilled tasks in water line construction, asphalt and concrete repairs, and related field duties.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, NC driver’s license, and eventual Class A CDL within six months, plus additional certifications within six months. You will work with a team to ensure safe, reliable water infrastructure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; plus one year of construction/ infrastructure experience or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license and obtain Class A CDL within six months of hire.
• Must obtain Class C Water Distribution certification within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains and repairs water lines and related components.
• Receives and completes work orders; transports materials and cleans equipment.
• Repairs asphalt, concrete, yards and other disturbed areas during work.
• Adheres to safety procedures; directs traffic and uses safety gear.
• Operates and maintains equipment such as backhoes, excavators, and pumps.
